What to expect...
Marked out course
Structured sets, covering Open Water Skills, Training and Technique
Squads to match your ability (Green, Blue and Red*)
Qualified Open Water Coaches
Limited to 12 swimmers per coach
Coach stays with you afterwards to ensure you are safely warmed up
Session Length: 1 Hour
Cost: £8 per person
*RED squad is for swimmers who average UNDER 2 mins per 100m
*BLUE Squad is for swimmers who average OVER 2 mins per 100m
*GREEN Squad is for swimmers who average around 3 mins per 100m
(All squads are group sessions so you must be confident swimming in the sea;
for introductions to OW see our 1-1 or 2-1 coaching options)
Please note, all of our Open Water sessions are tide and weather dependant so check the dates and times carefully before booking. In the event of bad weather, we will contact all swimmers as early as possible to re-arrange.
ONE TO ONE COACHING IN THE OPEN WATER
We offer 1:1 coaching with an STA certified open water coach for:
Introductions to open water
Novice open water swimmers
Swimmers nervous of the open water
Swimmers of any level wishing to improve their open water technique
Session Length: 1 hour
Cost: £45 per person
£75 for 2 persons

Open water skills is the last and probably most overlooked area of triathlon and open water swim coaching.
To balance this, Swim Smooth Wales addresses three main disciplines to maximise your swim performance
We call it the 3 Keys
Open Water skills is often the ‘Key’ that has less focus, especially for the triathlete.
Although we perform open water drills and practice in our pool sessions, it is so important to breach the gap between pool swimming and the open water environment!

New to the open water?
Learning how to swim effectively in open water when you are new to triathlon and/or open water swimming starts with developing your confidence in this strange new environment.
Even if you have been swimming for a while we can help you to increase your enjoyment and performance in open water. We will work with you to.
